01 โ€” Meaning

What each pride emoji means

๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ Rainbow flag
The general pride flag, in Unicode since 2016. Built as white flag + zero-width joiner + rainbow, which is why it falls apart into ๐Ÿณ๏ธ๐ŸŒˆ on systems that do not support it.
๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€โšง๏ธ Transgender flag
Added in 2020 โ€” light blue, pink and white. Same ZWJ construction as the rainbow flag, so support is slightly worse on older devices.
Colour shorthand
Communities without a flag use colour hearts instead: ๐Ÿ’œ for the general scene, ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿฉถ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’œ for asexual, ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’™ for pansexual. Not official, but universally read.

FAQ

Pride Emojis โ€” questions

How many pride flag emojis are there?
Two: the rainbow flag ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ and the transgender flag ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€โšง๏ธ. All other pride flags โ€” bisexual, lesbian, asexual, pansexual โ€” have been proposed but not approved, so people build them from coloured hearts instead.
Why does the rainbow flag sometimes show as two emojis?
It is a sequence โ€” white flag joined to a rainbow with a zero-width joiner. Devices that do not support the combination show the two parts side by side instead of one flag.
Is there a lesbian or bisexual flag emoji?
Not in Unicode. The usual workarounds are colour hearts in the flag order, or the flag emoji plus the relevant hearts.
